Avicii Lovin'

Avicii is one of the biggest up and coming producers in the House music genre.  Sticking mainly to the Progressive side of things, the 21 year old Swede first blew up with the widely recognized banger "Bromance" and the remixes and edits he produced of Bromance under the names Tim Berg and Avicii.  He dominates Beatport on a regular basis and his newest single "Street Dancer" is currently #1 in the Beatport Top 100.  Every time I put one of his songs on people go nuts.  Every song has a lot of energy and well orchestrated synth leads and thumping bass.  Here are a few of my favorite songs of his, although it's hard not to put his entire discography up here, it's really that good.

Avicii - Muja (Original Mix)
Progressive banger with awesome synth leads, the main ingredient in the recipe for a tasty dance party.

Tiesto - Escape Me (Avicii Remix at Night)
Some say Avicii is the next Tiesto, well he may have outdone the man himself on this remix of Tiesto's big single "Escape Me".

Tim Berg - Bromance (Avicii's Vocal Extended Mix)
The one that started it all.

Avicii & Sebastien Drums - My Feelings For You (Original Mix)
Avicii has collaborated with Sebastien Drums on a few occasions, most notably to produce this track and the progressive banger "Even".

100 Posts, We Did It!

This is R2R's 100th post since the start of our glorious blog back in late September.  Well done everyone that has been a part of it, and everyone out there keep reading.  We will do our best to keep you up to date with all the Electronic Dance Music and killer Hip-Hop you can handle.  I'm going heavy on the dubstep today though, specifically because I have 3 songs on repeat in my head these days and you guessed it, they are below.

Benny Benassi ft. Gary Go - Cinema (Skrillex Remix)
I had to pick my face up off the floor after just 2 and a half minutes of listening to this beast of a song.  A couple sick breakdowns and a drop with so much wub you're gonna want to get up out of your chair.

Helicopter Showdown ft. Sluggo - The Wrestler
I don't know who either of these artists are but they absolutely kill it on this song.  Very grimey and very awesome.

Calvertron - Everybody (Figure Remix)
Calvertron and Figure are fairly new on my list of beloved dubstep artists, but they have quickly moved up in my personal power rankings.  Between this and "Bring the Bass Back", there are big things in store for these 2.

100th POST BONUS!
Nic Chagall, Rank 1, & Wippenberg - 100 (Original Mix)

Progressive house at it's finest right there.

More Tunes

This is my first post so I figured I would share a mix of songs. Since I am a rookie the format might not be on par but fuck it.  Here are some fresh tunes for all to enjoy.

Sick dub mix of 1901 originally done by Phoenix, check it out

This is a new track from Chiddy Bang, real laid back and mixed with a Radiohead beat.

Christoph Andersson is 18, he's from Louisiana and brand new to the music scene. After listening to this song I got hooked.

Start It Off Right!

Departing for a new semester tomorrow, gettin ready to rage not only upon arrival but also in the 6 hour car ride.  I'm gettin geared up with an arsenal of new music at the moment, here are some gems I have stumbled upon in my never-ending search.

Avicii - Street Dancer
New jam from Avicii, absolutely epic.  Unreal progressive track, this guy keeps turning out banger after banger and "Street Dancer" is yet another to add to the young Avicii's resume.

M.I.A. - Internet Connection (Flux Pavilion Remix)
I truly believe that Flux Pavilion can do no wrong, every remix he touches is an instant banger.  Great tune right here, doesn't retain a ton of the original but who cares because it sounds great and Flux has done it again.

Deadmau5 - Get In The Cart, Pig (Marco Belz Remix)
What started out as an experimental Deadmau5 Soundcloud track has gotten the remix treatment from Marco Belz and has successfully been violently catapulted into progressive house banger status.  Thanks to R2R author StudNibs for this jam.

And Ya Don't Stop

Hip hop overload time today on R2R, I just put together an electro-house mix for the back to school season (which you'll find further down this post) so I'm temporarily staying away from the electronic tunes.  However, what I do have for you is a slew of great hip hop and rap tracks (mostly mixtape dominated) that have come out in the past week or two.  Sometimes it's necessary to stop all the wamps and womps and listen to a good lyricist do his thing over a well made beat.  These should do the trick.

Chris Brown ft. Busta Rhymes & Lil Wayne - Look at Me Now
Produced by Afrojack and completely murdered by Busta and Wayne (you can't expect much out of Breezy's rap flow), this shit has been on repeat and ready for action any time I hop in the car these days.  Sick beat and some killer verses from veterans Busta and Weezy.

Freeway ft. Statik Selektah & Mac Miller - P.A.
An anthem for the state of the home of the almighty Dickinson College.  Chilled out, laid back beat with a couple solid rappers.  Great to see Mac Miller get some love from an established artist such as Freeway.  Pretty great tune, all my Philly people are sure to love.

Chris Webby - Almost There
I have quickly become a huge fan of Chris Webby.  Even though he bags on "Boston's boy" Sam Adams, I could care less because the kid is talented, and like Sammy, employs dubstep tracks as beats on several occasions.  This song is a classic rap tune, just well done all around.  Check out the entire mixtape "Best in the Burbs", released in late December.

Rick Ross - Black Man's Dream (ft. Ludacris)
Solid track off Rick Ross's "Ashes to Ashes" mixtape.  Only 10 songs on the mixtape, but most if not all are worth a listen.  This is my personal favorite, and it doesn't hurt to let Luda spit some knowledge on the track.

Nas - Be Right
Nas is one of the greatest to ever live.  Don't argue, just download this song.

ELECTRO/HOUSE EXTENDED MIX
51 Minutes, 20 tracks, 1 great time for any electro-house fan, great for a party, pregame, or personal rage sesh.  Soundcloud is below, you can download from there if you wish.

The Heavy Stuff

Happy Friday.  Get ready for this upcoming weekend with some heavy dubstep bangers currently circulating around the EDM community.  No better way to ring in a new semester than with a couple face melting, bass wobblin' dub tunes.  Put on your robot ears.

The Cataracs - Bass Down Low (Proper Villains Remix)
Sweet remix of a great song.  The Cataracs are great party music but they tend to keep it on the poppier, dance side, Proper Villains delivers a wobbly tough track here that goes really well with the upbeat, dance floor feeling of the original.

Laid Blak - Red (Chasing Shadows Remix)
The original was a kind of reggae/electronic jam which was awesome and creative as is.  When it came time to crank it up however, Chasing Shadows took "Red" and pumped it full of heavy bass and dubby goodness.

Ajapai - Terminate
Not for the faint of heart.  Sometimes shit like this can just be too much, but I feel like this track just barely sticks together for 4 and a half minute to give the listener a head banging, glitched out, grime time wubber.  Courtesy of Rotten Records.

BONUS HIP-HOP/MASH-UP/INSTRUMENTAL/WEIRD/AWESOME JAM
The Avalanches - Frontier Psychiatrist

Video is below, this song has an unreal instrument and one the trippiest, strangest videos I have ever seen.

H.A.M.

This absolute freak of a tune dropped last night at midnight.  It's a huge single from Kanye West & Jay-Z and is the first off an upcoming collaboration album "Watch the Throne".  The beat is monstrous and the lyrics are straight up fire as usual from two of the biggest and best in the game.  After only a few listens this track has vaulted to one of my current favorites.  Get ready to go H.A.M (Hard as a mothafucka)...

Stay Warm With Some FIRE

2 sick new tracks for you today, one I can't give you a download for unfortunately but you can listen on the site I found and attempt to use a converter like vidtomp3.com.  Anyway, it's getting cold as hell and the desire to return to ruthless college life is taking over.  Time to beat the cold and get ready for the campus rage scene with these 2 fresh tracks, one dubstep, one electro-house, both bangers.

FS - Shake Dat Ass (Original Mix)
Hot, nasty, grimey, dubby dubstep tune that I found while perusing Beatport the other day.  Never heard of FS, but after this I can't wait to hear the next track.  Will definitely make you wanna shake dat ass.

Andrea Bortelini - Drop That Beat (Original Mix)
After shaking that ass, it is of course necessary to drop that beat.  This Italian chick has won me over and this song is a great dance anthem with a little bit of electro fused into it.  Hot electro/progressive house banger right here for all to enjoy.

Original Gangsta

Thought I'd throw up a quick mix/mash up thing I have been twerking on.  Gimme constructive criticism, or just listen and enjoy.  Just threw two songs that I am a huge fan of together quickly and this is the result.  Worddd...

Year of the Wub

I'm telling you right meow that dubstep is going to make big moves in the coming year, a lot of great dubstep tracks have already been re-worked as mainstream rap tracks by artists like Chris Webby & Sam Adams.  Dubstep also has the ability to rework practically any song from any genre into some kind of wubby remix.  Big things are coming for the wub.  Here are some big dub tunes to enjoy in the meantime...

Chris Webby - Raising the Bar
Chris Webby spits some nice lines over Mt. Eden's "Sierra Leone" dubstep song on this track off his Underclassmen mixtape.  Great example of what rap beats could be looking like in the not too distant future.

Future vs. Calvertron - Bring the Bass Back (Calvertron Dubstep Remix)
Fuego.  Remix of a house song that got the job done on it's own, but Calvertron does a great job translating the original in a dubstep banger,  and I do mean banger.

Nero - Innocence (Split Second Remix)
Continuing with the aforementioned theme of dubstep songs making sick rap beats, I present this super sweet remix of Nero's "Innocence", with Split Second's verses combining perfectly with Nero's beat to make a great rap tune.

Feed Me

Amidst all the New Year's nonsense I neglected to post my current favorite EP and track.  "Feed Me" is signed on mau5trap records and "Feed Me's Big Adventure" is their first big release.  A little bit of dubstep and some heavy electro house is exactly what you need to start the new year.  Doesn't hurt that Feed Me's got 4 out of the top 10 singles on Beatport either (all of which are on this EP).  Hope everyone stayed safe and raged hard on New Years Eve.

Feed Me's Big Adventure EP
The full EP, conveniently packaged in a zip file with cover art and such.

Feed Me - Blood Red
My personal favorite track off the EP, hardcore dubstep track, the best.
