This weekend I met my rage companion Quez to go to a dubstep show at Club Fabric in the heart of London. We had bought tickets on Bassnectar's webstie thinking it would be a mere Bassnectar show with maybe a special guest or two. Well, we arrived at Fabric already feeling incredibly "friendly" and ready to go at about 9:30 and after 30 minutes of waiting in line we were let in. Immediately employees began sprinting around the club stapling pieces of paper to the wall. When we got closer we realized what we had gotten ourselves into. The paper contained the schedule for the evenings 8 hour dubstep extravaganza, officially entitled "Beatdown 2010".
18 differents acts performed on 3 stages from 10:00-6:00 in the morning. We compiled our list of artists to see and executed to perfection. As we walked further and further underground (the only thing above ground level in this club is the coat check), we got to the almighty Stage 1. We saw (in order): Mutants, Jagga, Rusko, Doctor P, and Bassnectar. My favorite performance was Bassnectar, the guy is just insane and his light show was the best by far, his bass literally rocked the place as well. Second was a tie between Rusko and Doctor P. Rusko is definitely a crowd-pleaser and his music brought the party, people were going insane. Doctor P was sick as well, his set surprised me, his shit was so heavy and the crowd was unreal during his set, the place was nuts. Mutants and Jagga are somewhat lesser known but they were both very very good and we were able to get really close to the stage for both. Bottom line is this is something that would never happen in America and I am so glad I got to experience this. How was your Friday night?
Anyway, I could talk all damn day about this ridiculous show, but I'll give you what you're here for. Some brand new music. I haven't had a post in a couple days so I've got some real good stuff for you.
Porter Robinson - I'm On Fire (Original Mix)
Porter Robinson has been on here before, but only as a remixer. This is a little taste of his original work, which is just as good as his remix work. Robinson is an up and coming electro-house superstar. Keep an eye on him.
Example - Last Ones Standing (Doctor P Remix)
Come on, there's no way I could have not put some Doctor P on here after seeing how utterly insane his live show is. Like I said, he is one of the heaviest and grimiest dubstep artists out there, so if you like that heavy shit that bumps like it should, check this jam out.
Nadia Ali - Rapture (Avicii New Generation Mix)
Quickly climbing to the top of the Beatport charts, this jam is a genuine banger and is essential for any pregame or party that wants to achieve total ragetasticness. Some say that Avicii is like a baby Tiesto, could be true but this track does make him one thing: seriously awesome.
Jamiroquai - Blue Skies (Flux Pavilion Remix)
I've still got the dubstep fever after that epic show. So here's another fresh ass dubstep track to end this post off. Totally ragin' and heavy as shit which you can expect on the reg from Flux Pavilion. Definitely one of my favorite dubstep guys. Everything he drops is pure fire.
